Hey you big bros, this is what i've been up to in the last days! I built myself a hot pipe out of a table stand that i scrounged in the recycling again(sounds like i lead a garbage life ) i put a 150 watts light bulb in it and it gets scorching hot on that pipe in no time! i also drawn the braces under the top, made a template for them braces also and finally cut the contour of my top on the bandsaw. I also started working in the box, the end block is done and i'm currently working on my neck block which will be similar to the one Paul, Terry, Howard and John Mayes use

Nice bender. I think I'll do the lightbulb thing to mine. I'm currently using a propane torch for heat.

Peter and Coe, I'm a lucky pup, people here throw out good stuff for lutherie almost everyday! The top with the holes can be explained by me getting mad at one of the tenants here, i was aiming at him but he was lucky my glasses were full of sawdust!

Thanks Dave You could say so! Since no 2 is a brand new game for me, i kind of take the time to take good habits and develop a method of working and having fun at the same time!

Hi Al, yeah, it's pretty easy to do as you can imagine with that big flange, i also prefer elctricity because my shop has no windows, the fumes would make life hell in there!

Thanks Carlton, Don, Ron, Rossy and Larry for the encouragement, sometimes i wish i had more shop time and more money tho, i'd probably be further in the build but i'm still in the game and it feels like this box will finally take shape soon. Another factor of my slowlyness( ) is that i had to redo a lot of jigs entirely because the ones i had used for the first guitar became useless, for instance, my steam bending thingie!

Serge..way to go! I like your lightbulb in the pipe bender. It works well? I too, am not to keen on propane. Looks like a good alternative.

What kind of wood do you have there in the rosette?

Thanks Richard and Doug, i can't remember who's idea it was, Mike Variano comes to mind( )though but thought it was the only option for me on that type of bender, the tube gets hot really fast, the water droplets danse on it as it was suggested, i didn't bend much with it, just a quick try with my sides but i have to admit that i was a little scared to pressure my wood on it, i'll practice with scrap first me thinks!

Yes Dave, i changed my mind for only 1 reason, my rosette would have been too close to the purfling line as you can see here in this pic, i'll know not to make that rosette that big next time! Thanks for the motivation, i'll be able to do a cutaway on # 3!

Serge, thanks for trying to give credit where credit is due, but quite honestly I stole I mean borrowed that idea from someone else a year or so back who no doubt stole it from another guy,, you get the point.. But thats whats cool here, it nice to have someone steal our ideas..
